ATOP Devlog 6 - Personal Workspace

Hello everyone!

Welcome back once again to our Devlog where we talk about our journey and experiences while making A Tale of Paper! Today we will explain a bit how was for us having a workspace to work all together.

We began working at the PlayStation Games Camp in Barcelona, where we had our very own office that we shared with another team of game developers.

The work pace improved a lot. Working altogether and being able to share ideas, show designs for the levels, brainstorm ideas, implementing assets, animations… in overall, everything was so much better than working each one from home. We could see on the spot and at every moment what each one of us was working on, and we could give feedback if it was needed without having to screenshare.

At the office, we also had access to a PS4, TV’s and a “Dev-Kit” that helped us debug the builds and test how they worked (frames, textures…). This plus having PC’s with access to every program we needed, made it easier for us to speed up and improve the development of the game.

We’ve been able to work there for 10 months, now we continue the last parts of the development from home again, but a big part of “A Tale of Paper” was done there.

From experience, we truly recommend having a workplace where you can work with the members of your team. One of the most important and biggest parts from making a game is communication, and having your team face-to-face in the same space really helps (even more in smaller teams).

Thank you for reading! See you in the next one.
